I know you will leave eventually,
Still, I want it all.
I want all that you can give.
And all that we can create.
Will I ever tell you that I know?
Will I look at you and just see past our time.
Will I see that period that marks the end of our story.
Or will I still write that story? Word by word till I lead it to its end;
But still, unfold its beginning.
I will love you, now. Like I will love you then.
For there is no tense in our safe haven.
There is just a standstill in your arms.
Your every touch will my skin pore memorize.
The way your eyes look at me will be what I see when I close my own.
For you came to love this human being that I am with everything I deem to be the least about me.
I held myself for so long, for to open that book meant to close it at some point.
Can’t I read you forever?
Can’t you at least be that unfinished story…
I will take that over an end of you.
I hate that I am growing in wanting you.
Even when I know I will be the one to throw that handful dirt and that one rose.
Our paths feel ever so close, for time can’t help but happen. And fate can’t help but be.
Your existence hunts me in my dreams, for your soul bears the painting fit for my canvas.
